Position Overview

Supervisor, Grants Compliance

Department: ERIK | Office of Sponsored Programs Administration

Schedule:

40 hours per week, First Shift

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations and activities for the assigned team.
  • Approve travel transactions for the team and provide backup support to procurement and expense teams.
  • Provide leadership, training, and supervision of team members; answer questions, resolve problems, and oversee quality compliance.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coordinate cross‑training, workload distribution, and backup with other team leads.
  • Serve as subject matter and policy expert for transactions processed by the team and advise faculty and staff on policy interpretation.
  • Develop work guidelines and procedures; continuously review processes and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure the team meets performance, quality, and compliance standards under university policies, state and federal laws, and sponsor requirements.
  • Maintain or exceed agreed‑upon service levels and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in determining staffing needs and making hiring decisions for the team.
  • Gather statistics, monitor performance, perform productivity reporting, and analyze efficiency and quality.
  • Keep management updated on team performance and coordinate with other supervisors to align best practices.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with electronic research tools and financial management systems.
  • Extensive experience in research administration at a university setting.
Desired

Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience.
  • CRA, CFRA, CPSM or other related certification.
  • Training in leadership, process improvement, or similar areas.
  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor.

Additional Information

Salary will be based on multiple factors including internal equity, unit budget, and qualifications.

Ohio State will not sponsor work visas for this position.

Remote work is available; residency in Ohio strongly desired.
