Position: Agency Supervisory Officer (ASO)

The Agency Supervisory Officer (ASO) is responsible for overseeing the supervisory framework within the agency, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the agency’s commitment to ethical conduct and operational excellence. The ASO acts as the primary point of contact for all supervision-related matters and collaborates with management, staff, and external regulatory bodies to maintain a compliant and effective supervisory environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain supervisory procedures in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct regular branch and agent audits, including review of client files, transaction suitability, and sales practices.
  • Monitor and review agent activities to identify and address potential compliance risks.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents, escalations, and regulatory filings.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to agency staff regarding compliance and supervisory standards.
  • Maintain documentation of all supervisory activities, findings, and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with compliance, legal, and risk management departments to address complex issues.
  • Assist with the onboarding and supervision of new agents and staff, ensuring proper licensing and registration.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on supervisory activities and trends.
Additional Duties
  • Coordinate with IT and operations to implement systems supporting supervisory workflows and recordkeeping.
  • Lead or participate in special projects related to process improvement, risk mitigation, or regulatory change management.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Serve as an escalation contact for complex compliance or supervisory cases.
  • Monitor updates to industry regulations and recommend adjustments to agency procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial services, insurance, or agency operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or compliance-focused role.
  • Active FINRA Series 7, Series 24, Series 53 (or equivalent supervisory licenses) and Series 63 required;
    Series 65/66 preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing insurance and securities activities.
Skills and Competencies
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and supervisory/compliance technology platforms.
  • High ethical standards and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.
Reporting Structure

The Agency Supervisory Officer reports directly to the General Agent and works closely with Compliance, Risk, and other Home Office departments. The ASO may have direct reports, including Assistant Supervisory Officers or Compliance Analysts/Consultants, depending on agency size.

Performance Metrics
  • Timeliness and accuracy of compliance reviews and supervisory tasks.
  • Audit results and closure of identified findings or deficiencies.
  • Effectiveness of agent and staff training programs.
  • Responsiveness to regulatory changes and agency policy updates.
  • Quality and clarity of supervisory documentation and reporting.
