International Friendships, Inc. is a growing faith-based organization, whose mission is to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international college students. We do this by offering services, such as airport pickups, holiday hosting, temporary housing, conversation partnerships, and social events and trips. Our home office is based in Columbus, OH, and this position can be a work-from-home position from elsewhere in the U.S.

Expected work schedule for the People and Culture Manager
  • Occasional evenings and/or weekends for specific events/projects
  • Attendance at several conferences each year, including IFI Staff Retreats
Pay structure for an People and Culture Manager
  • Potentially will require the development of a ministry partner team which supplies the necessary prayer and financial support to cover salary, benefits, and ministry expenses
  • Training is provided to develop a team of ministry partners
  • Pay range is typically between $36,366 and $56,071 after the period of support development, based on experience and other factors

About the area and Responsibilities of a People and Culture Manager

The People and Culture Manager will (list not all inclusive):

Organizational Culture & Performance Management (30%)
  • Lead the promotion and integration of IFI's Culture Values (Welcoming, Takes Initiative, Invests in Others, Teachable, Perseveres) across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure all staff accurately "GWC" (Get it, Want it, Capacity to do it) their roles to maximize organizational health and employee fulfillment.
  • Oversee and optimize the annual performance review process and EOS-driven Quarterly Conversations between supervisors and their direct reports.
  • Serve as an SLT advocate for staff retention, engagement, and morale, analyzing metrics from staff surveys to identify and solve systemic culture issues.
  • Address retention challenges among Next Gen (young, single) staff, particularly navigating life transitions like the "marriage and family drop off."
  • Develop recruitment and engagement strategies to attract 2nd and 3rd generation immigrant staff and volunteers.
  • Foster authentic staff community through relationship-building initiatives, reducing reliance on purely action-oriented meetings.
  • Plan and execute community-building times like the all-staff Retreat and the monthly "Refresh" all-staff online meetings.
Staff Care & Spiritual Growth (25%)
  • Direct the Staff Care team to ensure all staff have access to comprehensive spiritual and mental health support.
  • Connect staff with approved professional counseling resources, managing partnerships and budgets for staff care resources.
  • Oversee the National Prayer Coordinator and broader organizational prayer initiatives, ensuring prayer remains the foundation of IFI's ministry.
  • Champion rhythms of rest and spiritual renewal, encouraging the proper use of Devotion Days, Sabbaticals, and Retreats.
  • Provide tailored support and engagement strategies specifically designed for Associate and volunteer staff.
  • Serve as the organizational lead for implementing and maintaining Peace Pursuit frameworks across IFI.
  • Equip supervisors and staff with Biblical conflict resolution training, establishing healthy expectations and clearly communicating our identity as a "Type 2" (Supervisor and Sibling) organization.
  • Provide direct support, mediation, and guidance for complex staff issues, grievances, or interpersonal conflicts, working closely with HR to ensure resolutions align with the IFI Employee Handbook and Conduct Policy.
Staff Orientation & Development (15%)
  • Provide oversight for the New Staff Orientation (NSO) cohorts, ensuring new hires are deeply integrated into IFI's culture, mission, and operational systems.
  • Collaborate with the National Ministry Director and HR to build seamless onboarding pathways and hand-offs.
  • Develop ongoing professional and spiritual development pathways for veteran staff to continually grow their cross-cultural, leadership, and ministry competencies.
  • Design and implement a structured leadership growth pipeline tailored specifically for young staff.
  • Collaborate with the MPD team to provide enhanced, targeted deputized fundraising (MPD) support and leadership development for International staff (e.g., those on R-1 visas or seeking green cards).
  • Facilitate leadership development utilizing EOS tools and frameworks like Working Genius to optimize team dynamics and individual strengths.
  • Report regularly to the Senior Leadership Team, helping to shape and care for the ministry
