Position: Senior Claims Manager, Remote - CA Workers' Compensation

Position Overview

Strategic Comp is seeking a remote California Senior Claims Manager to oversee and manage a team of senior‑level claim professionals within the Pacific Region (AZ, CA, CO, NV, OR, and UT). The role includes day‑to‑day management, performance coaching, vendor oversight, and strategy development for claim resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the daily work and activities of a team of senior level adjusters.
  • Coach and develop staff, including learning and development programs.
  • Determine the need for attorneys, surveillance, and nurse case managers for each claim; assign, direct, and monitor vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, insureds, and stakeholders to gain buy‑in for claim direction.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate potential loss through interaction with claimants.
  • Ensure availability of light‑duty jobs for quick return to work.
  • Travel up to 35% of the time, including overnight travel for in‑person internal claim meetings three times per year.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of diverse experience in workers’ compensation claims handling.
  • Minimum of 4 years of claims management experience in California.
  • Expert claims handling and management experience in at least one of the following jurisdictions (preferred):
    Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, or Utah.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Solid background in coverage analysis, reserving, claims investigation, and litigation management.
  • Prior work with large or national accounts.
Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary—requires prolonged sitting and continuous use of a computer.
  • Travel—requires some overnight travel.
