Business Unit Leader
Our client is hiring for a Business Unit Leader, come join a team of passionate, creative people and work on challenging and highly rewarding projects that enrich the communities they serve! As a Senior Level Manager, you will be responsible for operations, client business development, and leadership of the Water and Natural Resources practice with the Puget Sound including the Redmond and Everett offices.
The Business Unit Leader works collaboratively with the firm’s Water and Natural Resources Director and the Redmond Regional Manager to set market sector goals and objectives in the region and ensure the group’s ongoing development and efficient operation. This role is a seller-doer who combines excellent project delivery and management with an understanding of the principles of financial management and business development.
In addition, you will function as a Senior Project Manager for specific clients or projects. This position may be based out of their Redmond or Everett, WA office.
What you’ll do:
- Provide leadership and managerial guidance on a regional level, inspiring the team to ensure that the firm’s vision and mission are achieved by setting appropriate milestones and benchmarks.
- In collaboration with the Water and Natural Resources Director and Regional Manager, prepare annual business plans and monitor progress through the year.
- Partner with Pursuit Managers and Marketing Managers to prepare winning professional proposals and actively participate in interview preparation and go/no-go decision meetings.
- Collaborate with the Regional Manager to oversee practice area personnel in the region in accordance with our client’s policies and procedures. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
- Provide technical excellence and thought leadership in the areas of basin planning, urban stormwater management, river/stream restoration, fish passage design, open-channel hydraulics, and bridge hydraulics and scour countermeasure design.
- Prepare technical approaches/scope, schedule, and budgets for proposals.
- Manage water resources planning and design projects in stormwater management and around natural areas, including workload planning and overseeing financials, schedule, deliverables, and quality control.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalency in direct field of experience) or related area, including Business and Finance.
- 15+ years of related experience directly managing large capital projects from design through construction and/or closeout.
- Professional Engineering License required, including obtaining a Washington State PE License within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated significant previous experience in the management of personnel, project budgets, and team financials.
- Experience in the review and negotiation of agreements and contracts.
- A customer-oriented seller-doer who understands how to sell the firm’s services, grow the business, and deliver high quality work.
- Ability to work in Redmond or Everett office full-time. Flexibility allowable within the company’s remote work guidelines.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required or an approved exception.
