Location:
Westwood, MA. This person independently manages large CAPEX transmission construction projects in Eastern Massachusetts to ensure all phases of approved projects are completed efficiently and within scope, on schedule and within budget. Works closely with management personnel in Transmission Asset Management, Transmission Planning, Design, Land Planning, Construction and Test, Finance, Regulatory Relations, Legal and Purchasing.
• This role supports Major Projects and requires regular travel to Greater Boston.
Essential Functions- Manage large substation, new transmission line, major transmission facility expansion or medium/high complexity projects.
- Projects are multi-discipline, multi‑stakeholder with medium to high financial risk; requires management reporting and communication.
- Ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time and within budget.
- Work closely with Eversource Energy Delivery personnel, Legal, Regulatory Relations, Purchasing, Communications and all Transmission Business functions.
- Integrate and manage a cross‑functional team.
- Manage all project phases: planning, engineering, siting/permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning and close‑out.
- Develop comprehensive project plan, schedule, communication plan and change‑control methodology.
- Execute project plan and change‑control process.
- Develop project budget and cash flow.
- Maintain monthly reporting of scope, budgets and schedules.
- Develop siting and permitting assessment.
- Participate in regulatory filings and coordinate environmental assessment and approvals.
- Ensure timely ISO‑NE project submittals.
- Prepare bid documents for engineering, design, construction and test procurement.
- Develop outage and energization plans and long‑term outage plan submittals.
- Close projects on time to support corporate goals.
- Provide concise reports to management.
- Provide guidance to less experienced project managers.
- Take leadership in organization initiatives and process development.
- Prepare corporate testimony for regulatory proceedings.
- Ability to investigate and solve problems, analyze data, write reports and make presentations.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage time, set priorities, define roles and make decisions.
- Meet and motivate others, interact with all levels of the organization.
- Schedule, plan and manage multiple complex transmission projects concurrently.
- Strong communication skills – listening, speaking, writing.
- Leadership, planning, decisiveness and customer focus.
- Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices.
- Excellent team‑building, coaching, problem‑solving, interpersonal and motivational skills.
- Preparation of presentations and expert witness testimony for regulatory presentations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) or finance, business or equivalent experience.
- Master’s Degree preferred;
Project Management coursework desirable.
- Ten (10) years of related experience, including at least three (3) years of Project Management experience.
- Experience in construction of transmission lines highly desirable.
- Salary range $138,000 to $158,000, plus incentive; salary commensurate with experience.
