Position: C.A.R.E. Center Assistant Director

Assistant Director of the Consultation, Assistance, and Resources in Engineering (C.A.R.E.) Center

The Assistant Director of the Consultation, Assistance, and Resources in Engineering (C.A.R.E.) Center supports the College's efforts to promote student success and wellbeing by carrying out the priorities and initiatives set by the C.A.R.E. Center Director. This role ensures programs are implemented effectively, communicates clearly with staff and stakeholders, and follows through on strategic initiatives in detail. The Assistant Director provides operational support for the C.A.R.E. Center, assists with crisis response, supervises staff as needed, and supports student wellbeing programs- including emotional, mental health, and basic needs resources- based on the Director's direction.

Responsibilities*
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for the C.A.R.E. Center, coordinating programs and services across academic and non-academic domains as directed.
  • Execute the C.A.R.E. Director's priorities and initiatives, ensuring clear communication, operational follow-through, and implementation of programs addressing student emotional wellbeing, mental health, and basic needs.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, academic departments, and administrative units to support aligned, accessible, and sustainable student support services.
  • Assist with crisis response and intervention for students in distress, coordinating with campus and College resources.
  • Supervise and guide C.A.R.E. Center staff and student support personnel as assigned by the Director.
  • Assist with planning, assessment, and operational integration of wellbeing initiatives, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the C.A.R.E. Director, adapting to evolving needs and priorities.
Required Qualifications *
  • Master's degree and state licensure in social work, counseling, counseling psychology, or psychology.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention and after-hours crisis response.
  • Experience developing, implementing, evaluating, and improving student support, wellbeing, or mental health programs using data, assessment, and outcomes measures.
  • Experience working with college students in STEM disciplines, including an understanding of the academic demands and requirements of STEM programs.
  • Experience collaborating with campus partners and developing and delivering trainings, workshops, or outreach initiatives that support student success and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or trainees, including clinical supervision where applicable.
  • Familiarity with case management systems, program assessment, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to translate strategic priorities into operational action.
Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience supporting undergraduate and/or graduate students in engineering programs.
  • Experience working in highly selective, competitive, or academically rigorous higher education environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving academic affairs, student affairs, and campus support units.
  • Experience supporting retention, persistence, and student success initiatives for undergraduate and/or graduate engineering students.
