Join a leading independent power producer at the forefront of renewable energy development. With a growing portfolio of utility‑scale solar projects across Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky, our client develops, constructs, owns, and operates renewable energy assets backed by a 7GW+ global pipeline and over 1GW already commissioned.
The RoleThe Senior Manager/ Director of Construction will be based at the Arlington, VA headquarters and will support delivery of a utility‑scale solar portfolio. The role focuses on hands‑on execution, contractor coordination, and field delivery, with exposure to strategic construction planning.
- Oversee all day‑to‑day operations and strategic direction of large utility‑scale solar construction programs and lead a team of high‑performing professionals
- Contribute significantly to creating and maintaining best‑in‑class policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain supply chain relationships
- Lead, manage, and develop staff across multiple utility‑scale solar construction projects
- Provide guidance and project leadership ensuring projects meet or exceed expectations
- Direct as many as 25+ external vendors per project comprising General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, and equipment suppliers
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget
- Lead and develop a team of construction professionals including hiring, training, and performance management
- Manage financial aspects of construction projects including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with construction projects
- Ensure construction projects meet all quality standards and comply with relevant regulations
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including clients, contractors, and government agencies
- Develop and execute contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and cost forecasts
- Lead project teams including Project Managers, Project Management Assistants, Site Superintendents, and Subcontractors
- Manage all aspects of construction projects from pre‑construction through project close‑out
- Degree preferred; relevant experience accepted in lieu
- 5–8 years of construction project management experience
- Solar or large‑scale commercial construction background required
- PMP certification preferred, not required
- This position will be based in Arlington, VA. Travel may be required throughout Virginia and the mid‑Atlantic region
