Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you a senior Project Manager or Team Lead who wants to combine leadership with hands‑on project ownership? Do you thrive in technically complex environments on a global scale? And are you ready to play a key role in shaping how projects are executed and improved?

This role offers a unique combination of strategic influence, technical depth, and direct impact on project execution.

Your role

As Head of Project Management Cranes, you are one of the key pillars of the Cranes Project House within Digital Industries. You combine hands‑on responsibility for complex technical projects with leadership of a small, experienced team of Project Managers.

Your role is highly visible and requires a helicopter view across projects, technology and teams to keep quality, planning and performance on track. You bring structure, direction and clarity to your team, supporting both experienced colleagues and those needing more guidance. You work closely with engineering, taking joint ownership of technical challenges and guiding teams through complexity and pressure.

This is not a purely managerial role. You remain deeply involved in project execution and leading your own projects, while also contributing to the broader direction of the department. As part of the Management Team, you are part of decisions beyond project delivery, such as project selection, resource allocation and tooling development. You play a crucial role in balancing short‑term execution with long‑term improvements, ensuring the department continuously evolves.

What

your week looks like
  • 50% – Managing your own complex technical projects
  • 20% – Supporting, reviewing and steering projects of other Project Managers
  • 20% – Contributing to management and department‑wide decisions (MT)
  • 10% – Team leadership and people management
Your responsibilities
  • Deliver complex projects involving power‑, drive‑, automation‑ and network technology
  • Guide, support and develop a team of Project Managers
  • Play an active role in the Management Team and drive effective resource planning across the portfolio
  • Take ownership in resolving technical and project challenges together with engineering
  • Ensure strong performance on quality, planning and customer satisfaction
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management processes (e.g. lessons learned, reviews, Q‑MIP)
Your success is grounded in
  • A completed technical degree (Bachelor or Master)
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in managing complex technical projects (hardware/software combination)
  • Proven leadership experience (formal or informal), like Team Lead, PM Lead or senior Project Manager
  • Curiosity and drive to continuously learn about people and project optimization, and are willing to deep dive into technical challenges.
  • You take initiative, have strong management skills and an analytical and structured way of working.
  • Ability to prioritize and stay effective under pressure, even when issues are complex and long‑lasting.

A dynamic fulltime role within an international and technical project environment where you have real impact on both projects and the organization.

What we offer
  • An excellent salary based on knowledge and experience combined with a variable income.
  • An electric lease car and participation in our employee stock plan.
  • Embrace our flexible work environment with flex hours and digital work spaces. However, it is important in this role to show flexibility regarding your days working from home and work at least three days from the office.
  • Access to a global Siemens network with a strong focus on personal development and growth
