Job SummaryThe successful candidate will plan, lead, and direct a team of Credit Collectors, managing an accounts receivable portfolio of $25M to $50M in North America. The role involves driving collection results to achieve business targets, ensuring compliance with credit controls, policies, and procedures, and collaborating with the Allegion Access Technologies Credit Manager on larger, complex accounts. The Collections Manager will build strong customer relationships, mentor the collection team, and work with cross‑functional partners to achieve cash flow objectives.
WhatYou Will Do Performance Management
- Manage and motivate a collection team to drive portfolio performance, DSO, % Current, reduction of 60+ day balances, and meet the monthly cash collection forecast.
- Drive improved collections results to achieve the annual plan of AR performance.
- Build solid relationships with customers, sales, branch operations, and staff.
- Design, innovate, challenge processes, and act as a change agent within America’s Credit organization.
- Collaborate with Credit Management on larger, challenging accounts.
- Apply a sound understanding of domestic/international credit and collection practices.
- Communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
- Employ strong problem‑solving skills and partner with cross‑functional teams such as branch operations, customer experience, billing, and sales.
- Negotiate and communicate judgment decisions required.
- Resolve account reconciliations and disputes.
- Analyze Accounts Receivable results and compare to forecasts and the annual operating plan on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Prepare month‑end reporting and analyze trends.
- Present counter‑measures relative to cash collections, disputes, and unapplied cash/credits.
- Communicate monthly AR results to Credit Management and staff.
- Evaluate customer financial statements to inform account decisions.
- Know lien rights, notice of furnishing within the construction industry.
- Mentor, coach, and provide functional leadership to collection staff.
- Improve collection processes and develop controls for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop an effective collection organization and support processes.
- Build bench strength and promote talent across the organization.
- Share best practices across the collection team.
- Maintain and approve time records of direct reports.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley Act and related AR controls.
- Adhere to Allegion Global Credit & Collection Policy.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment of all AR transactions and deductions.
- Follow escheatment policies.
- Adhere to FICAP, GAAP, and SOX compliance and authority matrix.
