Job Overview

Rockport State Park is seeking a motivated Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to help maintain and improve one of Utah’s premier recreation destinations. The role involves leading maintenance staff, overseeing facility and grounds operations, coordinating projects, managing equipment and utilities, and ensuring a safe, high-quality experience for park visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise maintenance staff and daily work assignments.
  • Plan and coordinate facility, grounds, trail, and infrastructure maintenance projects.
  • Perform and oversee construction, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping work.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inspect park facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff while promoting a safe work environment.
  • Manage maintenance resources, materials, and budget expenditures.
  • Enforce safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to emergencies and resolve operational and maintenance issues.
  • Assist with project planning, facility improvements, and long-term asset management.

Physical Demands

Work may involve physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking over rough or rocky terrain, and frequent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching. The position may also involve exposure to potentially hazardous or unusual environmental conditions, such as extreme weather, remote wilderness areas, or work on watercraft and OHVs.

Other Requirements

A valid driver’s license is required. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a CDL, Backflow Certification, Culinary Water Certification, or licenses and certifications in areas such as general contracting, building, electrical, HVAC, welding, plumbing, and related fields. Some travel and on‑call may be required. There may be potential housing.
