About Own the Podium
Own the Podium is a not-for-profit organization that provides leadership for Canadian sports to achieve sustainable and improved podium performances at the Olympic and Paralympic Games through a values-based approach. It prioritizes and determines investment strategies for National Sport Organizations in an effort to deliver more Olympic and Paralympic medals for Canada. Own the Podium’s largest contributor of funding is the Government of Canada with additional funding provided by the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), the Canadian Olympic Foundation, and the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC).
Own the Podium continues to drive Canada’s high performance sport system forward in a quest to help more athletes and coaches succeed in future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Scope of Position
The High Performance Advisor (HPA) will advise and work with NSOs to develop and deliver world-leading high performance plans that support athletes and coaches in winning well. This role will focus on both Olympic and Paralympic sports. The HPA will also support Olympic NSOs in the development and implementation of their Games plan to elevate performance in the Games environment.
Key Responsibilities
The High Performance Advisor (HPA) will be responsible to achieve the following objectives:
Champion the development and delivery of world-class high performance programs alongside NSO technical teams.
Build strong, trusted relationships to understand needs and inspire collaboration across the sport system.
Identify opportunities to elevate performance and drive continuous improvement.
Lead assessments and contribute to smart investment strategies that maximize impact and results.
Stay ahead of global trends by researching and integrating best practices into program design.
Partner with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee to support Games planning and performance readiness.
Collaborate with performance science experts and sport institute partners to optimize program support and results.
Take on special projects that shape the future of high performance sport in Canada.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Over five (5) years of senior level experience in high performance sport, including Paralympic environment and working with an NSO.
University Degree or College Diploma in sport, psychology, kinesiology, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Comprehensive understanding of and proven experience with Athlete and Team Pathways and underpinning requirements to win well at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Strong emotional intelligence to work with NSOs and system partners through an inclusive, trusted, collaborative, and adaptable approach.
Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite are required.
Experience functioning with virtual communication platforms (i.e. Zoom, Teams, Whats App, etc.).
Proven leadership in strategic planning and operational execution.
Demonstrated experience with complex project management from design to delivery, including leading diverse teams/engaging multiple stakeholder groups and a proven record of execution within scope, on time and with impact.
Compensation
Final compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
