Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Provost & University Registrar, the Manager, Operations and Special Projects is responsible for the administrative management of the Registrar’s office. This includes overseeing day‑to‑day business operations, human resources management, financial activities, office and stakeholder communications and contracts, events and special projects.
Job also provides operational support to the Academic Advising Centre and Campus Card office assisting with various administrative functions, process improvements and troubleshooting operational issues that arise, as directed by the Associate Provost & University Registrar. This role ensures smooth collaboration between the Registrar’s office, Academic Advising Centre, and Enrolment Management department, including coordinating events and supporting cross‑office projects.
Qualifications
Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts and practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
Knowledge of event planning and communications program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
Knowledge of Human Resource Management
Knowledge of Budget Management
Knowledge of Facilities Management
Knowledge of best practices in Communications
Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
Knowledge of Project Management
Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline‑specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
Knowledge applied to lead event and communication operations for Registrar’s services
Education and Experience
Completion of an undergraduate degree
Minimum of four years in progressively responsible positions including two years of management and leadership experience
Health and Safety Requirements
This position is regularly required to work on campus in person. In the event of a public health emergency or a health and safety issue, it is possible that you may be required to work temporarily remotely due to public health orders, directives and/or health and safety requirements. If this happens, you will work with your direct manager to set up a remote work environment, including discussing appropriate technology and requirements.
You are required to follow all University policies and directives, including to set up a safe and confidential workspace in a remote location and ensure all Carleton property (intellectual and other) is safeguarded. If required to work remotely, you will be notified by your manager when working full time physically onsite will resume.
