Asana is looking for a strategic, supportive, and business‑savvy leader to manage our global Administrative Business Partner (ABP) community. This is more than a traditional operations role; it is a people‑first leadership position designed to bring stability, clarity, and growth to a team that is the backbone of our executive leadership.
You will lead our full‑time, global ABPs and oversee our offshore ABP support program. Your mission is to balance operational rigor with a human‑centric approach, ensuring our ABPs feel supported in their career journeys while providing world‑class partnership to Asana’s top executives.
This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office‑centric hybrid schedule. The standard in‑office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you’re interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in‑office requirements.
Whatyou’ll achieve
- Bridge Strategy & Execution:
Act as a high‑level partner to the Head of RE & Workplace, ensuring the ABP function aligns with Asana’s broader business goals. - Evaluate & Optimize:
Conduct comprehensive strategic audits of internal programs. Determine their long‑term viability, impact on executive productivity, and whether to scale, pivot, or maintain the current model. - Development of Team:
Coach the high‑performing team of ABPs, ensuring they are accountable for the overall quality and consistency of their work, grounded in business context and aligned to company priorities. Establish clear expectations for business acumen, judgment, and impact across the ABP team. - Standardize Excellence:
Develop a standard of excellence based on the Asana Operating Principles for executive support—creating playbooks for calendar management, global travel, and meeting rhythms that allow for executive‑specific nuances while maintaining a high global standard. - Resource Management:
Manage headcount planning, budgeting, and workload balancing. Ensure the ABP team is not over‑leveraged and that every executive has the right level of support. Provide ABP coverage when resources are constrained. - Foster Culture:
Build a sense of community and team among a group that is often siloed within different functional departments. - Lead with Empathy:
Act as a stable, empathetic, and supportive coach for the ABP team, helping them navigate their fast‑paced and high‑stress roles and charting clear pathways for their professional development.
- 8+ years of people‑management experience and a proven track record of leading through change with grace and transparency, leading high‑performing teams. Experience in leading remote teams and building relationships with executive leaders.
- Strategic Business Acumen:
Understand business drivers, evaluate ROI through data and stakeholder feedback. - Systems Thinking:
Proficient in using tools (big plus if that’s Asana) and AI tools to create clarity out of chaos. Think in terms of scalable processes, not one‑off fixes. Demonstrated curiosity about leveraging AI to enhance productivity. - Executive Presence:
Comfortable interacting with executive leaders, possessing professional polish and discretion required to manage the teams that support them. Experience building strong relationships with executive leaders who are remotely located. - Resilience & Stability:
Calming presence in high‑stakes environments, navigating ambiguity without passing stress down to your team. - Technical Savvy:
Expert‑level knowledge of Google Workspace and a passion for mastering Asana to streamline global coordination. - Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision‑making.
At Asana, we’re committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you’re interested in this role and don’t meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
