Position Summary
Lead the Consortium for Biomedical Research and Artificial Intelligence in Neurodegeneration (C‑brAIn) as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As CEO, shape the future of AI in biomedical research, build high‑performing teams, forge strategic partnerships across academia, industry, and philanthropic organizations, and steer the development and deployment of an AI‑powered, scientist‑in‑the‑loop research platform to accelerate breakthroughs in neurodegenerative disease and broader biomedical fields.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Forge alliances with aligned stakeholders, drive milestone delivery for the AI Biomedical Research Scientist platform, champion scientific integrity and ethical AI practices, and sustain the consortium’s long‑term impact.
- Organizational Management: Lead, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary executive team; coordinate activities, allocate resources, manage risk, and ensure timely delivery of technical and scientific objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Report to the Executive Director, align technology development with research needs, engage scientific experts for relevant product relevance, represent C‑brAIn at external forums, and promote equitable access to responsible AI tool sharing.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee budget planning, secure funding opportunities to support growth, and ensure fiscal accountability aligned with institutional and partner expectations.
Required
- Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; at least 7 years of progressive managerial responsibility.
- Experience in AI/technology and life sciences, building and scaling large, complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives or organizations (e.g., startups or consortiums).
- Proven ability to develop collaborations across academia, industry, and philanthropy, and to lead multidisciplinary teams including technical and scientific staff.
- Strong track record in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and responsible AI practices.
- Background in academia, industry, philanthropy, startup, consortium, or nonprofit leadership.
- Familiarity with regulatory, legal, and ethical frameworks in biomedical research and AI.
- Experience in federated data architectures, privacy‑preserving technologies, and responsible data governance.
- Prior leadership in a startup, consortium, or nonprofit environment.
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D.) is an asset.
