Please note:
Hybrid working is offered based on project needs rather than a fixed arrangement. Some weeks may allow full remote work, while others may require 2–3 days (or more) on-site. Flexibility is provided, but project delivery takes priority.
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director – Geo-Environmental Services to play a key leadership role in the growth and delivery of our services. This is a senior position that combines technical expertise, strategic input, and team leadership.
As Associate Director, you will oversee the successful delivery of geo-environmental projects, lead high-performing teams, and nurture strong client relationships. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to influence company strategy while driving technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Project Delivery & Leadership
- Oversee delivery of complex geo-environmental projects on time, within scope, and budget.
- Provide technical direction on contaminated land assessment, site investigation, geotechnical analysis, and remediation strategy.
- Manage all project stages from scoping and proposals to reporting and client handover.
- Lead and mentor technical teams, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Ensure effective delegation, resource allocation, and staff development.
- Work with senior management to optimise performance across multiple projects.
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
- Lead client meetings, manage expectations, and liaise with regulators, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Take responsibility for financial performance, budgets, and forecasting.
- Ensure projects meet agreed financial targets and departmental KPIs.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Champion a strong safety culture across all projects.
- Business Development & Strategy
- Identify opportunities for growth and new client acquisition.
- Contribute to tenders, proposals, and long-term service expansion.
- A degree in Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive experience in geo-environmental consultancy
- Strong technical expertise in contaminated land, site investigation, remediation, and risk assessments
- Proven track record in managing budgets, projects, and teams
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental and planning regulations
- Open promotion pathways to Director level
