Are you the One?We are looking for a Program Coordinator II (Disability Determination Team Supervisor) who acts as liaison between the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), Eligibility, Enrollment & Member Services (EEMS) and SCDHHS’ Disability Determination vendors. The role provides support and statewide assistance to EEMS staff, vendor staff, Medicaid applicants and beneficiaries, and the leadership team for all program partners regarding the disability determination process required for certain Medicaid applicants.
This includes the review and organization of all disability applications/forms prior to submitting to a disability determination vendor for a disability decision. The role reports to the Program Manager I for the Disability Determination Program within the EEMS Bureau for Eligibility Policy.
- Supervise and work alongside staff responsible for receiving, reviewing, and assigning disability determination packets for the Medicaid Disability Determination process. Oversee, manage, and coordinate communication, staff training, and quality improvement efforts to ensure work is accurate and timely based on operational policies and procedures. Take ownership of the service delivery of the Medicaid Disability Determination process and escalates complex concerns to the Program Manager.
Assist with developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the process. Work independently and as part of a team to provide direction and guidance to all SCDHHS staff responsible for reviewing and preparing disability packets and assigning them to a vendor. Ensure staffing levels are adequate and assist with hiring, training, and monitoring attendance. Travel between staff locations as needed. - Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with SCDHHS and external partners, including disability determination vendors, to ensure goals are met and problems resolved. Work with policy and training teams to support writing and developing of policy and procedures. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills collaborating with coworkers and the public to provide service. Present information for discussion and provide feedback for decision-making, including ways to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
Respond to inquiries from EEMS, SCDHHS and partners regarding cases pending a disability determination within 2 working days. Identify, research, and resolve problem issues. Respond to case escalation requests from EEMS and SCDHHS leadership the same day and have a process in place to respond when absent. - Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Make and keep schedules, complete tasks timely and report to work timely. Perform related duties as assigned or required. Ensure staff attends and successfully completes all training. Conduct special projects at management’s request. Prepare and present reports.
