Job Summary
The Director of Financial Services and Chief Financial Officer reports to the Chief Information Officer & Vice Provost for Information Technology and is a member of the DoIT Leadership Team. DoIT leadership members participate in cross-departmental activities such as the development of division policies, strategic plans and long and short-term goals. The division provides a range of administrative and central technology functions with an annual operating budget of approximately $100 million, a workforce of over 500 employees and students, and a leadership team of 19 members.
The Chief Financial Officer leads the division-wide financial planning and budgeting process and ensures that financial management is tied closely to the Division of Information Technology strategic planning and priority setting process. The Chief Financial Officer manages and directs all fiscal, internal systems, and business management functions for the division and leads efforts that support DoIT’s business systems.
The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved flexible work arrangement (FWA), which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.
Some campus activities and commitments do require on-site participation.

DoIT provides core IT infrastructure services to the university, develops and implements services for the university and in some cases, for the Universities of Wisconsin, plays a major role in managing the state-wide higher education network and regional networks.
Key Job Responsibilities- Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes objectives for multiple finance functional areas to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan
- Determines personnel needs and the personnel resource allocation plan
- Oversees, reviews, develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures for internal and external financial reporting, budgeting and financial operations
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of automated financial information systems and budgets, and disseminates updates and results to leadership when appropriate
- Serves as a divisional representative and subject matter expert to institutional leadership and internal and external stakeholders providing financial direction and information, fostering collaborative relationships across multiple functional areas, and representing the interests of the division
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- Serves as a member of the DoIT executive team, leading and supporting university and divisional initiatives
- Serves on various university committees, working with a wide range of constituencies including the Administrative Council, Financial Manager Meeting, Budget Office, the University of Wisconsin system office, Division of Business Services, and University Leadership
