Job Description

WSP is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Project Manager for our Power & Energy Management Team.

Successful candidate will manage technical, schedule, quality, and financial aspects of Power and Energy Transmission Line projects, develop client relationships, and market WSP’s Power Delivery services primarily in the South and Southwest Region. The role is based in Overland Park, KS;
Ann Arbor, MI;
Appleton, WI;
Madison, WI;
Minneapolis, WI;
Plover, WI or Saint Louis, MO, with the ability to work remotely from mutually acceptable locations. Travel to offices may be required.

This Opportunity

Provides project management for the development, execution, management, control and monitoring of high voltage and EHV Transmission Line projects, ensuring quality and client excellence standards are met. Offers innovation, administration, and pragmatic direction to address project challenges.

Your Impact
  • Provide PM leadership for projects, ensuring detailed design, budgets, forecasts, KPIs, risk contingencies, performance, and contractual obligations are managed.
  • Develop and foster effective strategies to engage stakeholders, maintain relationships, and report progress.
  • Guide pursuit/initiation activities including go/no‑go decisions, contract reviews, risk mitigation, and pricing reviews.
  • Participate and sometimes lead contract negotiations and client presentations.
  • Drive technical reviews, select qualified staff, and ensure adherence to QA/QC plans.
  • Provide verbal and written inputs to multidisciplinary teams and advise clients.
  • Manage and provide performance guidance to assigned staff.
  • Maintain project documentation (Risk, PMP, QP, PSP, Communications Plan).
  • Lead project kick‑off meetings.
  • Coordinate resource and subcontracting requirements.
  • Maintain regular client communication, reporting status, incidents, and budget impacts.
  • Oversee problem‑project reviews, root‑cause analysis, and recovery plans.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to clients, technical areas, and business units.
  • Complete formal closeout activities and lessons‑learned meetings.
  • Collaborate with disciplines for trusted advisor service and future‑ready solutions.
  • Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management or related field within Power & Energy Market.
  • 12+ years post‑education experience in project management within Power Delivery/Utility Industry.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience with IOUs, IPPs, Co‑Ops, Munis, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years leading engineering and/or construction teams on medium to large electrical utility projects.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and tools:
    Contract Management, External/Internal Team Meeting Management, Earned Value Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Schedule Management (CPM such as Primavera P6, etc.), Financial Management.
  • Highly proficient understanding of delivery process within Power Delivery/Utility industry.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, business acumen, and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent self‑leadership with detail‑orientation, multitasking, and adaptability.
  • Independent work with guidance to mid‑level to senior staff, strict QA/QC adherence.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, MS Office suite, and PM tools.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from diverse sources.
  • Proven track record of upholding safety and complying with WSP policies.
  • Strong adaptability to changing schedules and hours.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
