The Muslim Chaplain and Associate Director provides support and guidance for the Dartmouth College Muslim student community and serves as a full team member of the Tucker Center staff in promoting understanding, diversity, and community. This role provides broad support to the Chaplain and Director for serving the full Tucker student community, and supporting the overall administrative, fiscal and operational objectives.
DescriptionResponsibilities include supporting programming, advising, and engagement with Muslim student groups, in collaboration with Tucker Center staff and campus partners.
Required Qualifications- Education and Experience:
Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's Degree with specific training in Muslim student advising and other world faith traditions.
- At least three years of experience working with diverse Muslim college age students.
- Demonstrated support of diverse religious, ethnic, racial, gender, sexuality, socio-economic and cultural perspectives and practices.
- Experience in a higher education environment and student programming or the equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience with caring, open-minded community-building and constructive, understanding issue resolution.
- Graduate degree in a related field, basic unit in CPE (Continuing Pastoral Education), chaplaincy training, or equivalent.
- Arabic literacy.
- History of working within an interfaith organization.

Key Accountabilities- Support Al-Nur in their programming initiatives, leadership development, educational outreach, and community life (35%).
- Coordinate services and speakers with Al-Nur Muslim Student Association leaders for weekly Jumma'ah and observance of Muslim holy days (15%).
- Lead interfaith dialogue and foster identity and cultural exchange among students in cooperation with Tucker staff (15%).
- Serve as a resource on matters of Islam, religious diversity, and interfaith dialogue for the broader campus community (10%).
- Provide pastoral care and counselling for all students, especially the Muslim campus community (10%).
- Under direction of the Tucker Director/Chaplain, provide leadership roles for campus functions and serve on committees that advance Tucker's mission (10%).
- Build new programming in collaboration with other Student Affairs staff and campus partners (5%).
- Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality through actions, interactions, and communications in a welcoming environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
