What Is the Opportunity?Reports to Risk Control business leader. Under broad oversight, attracts, recruits, retains and develops top talent in collaboration with the Field Director. Develops and executes national and regional business plans in support of Business Insurance and Risk Control strategies. Manages a staff of Risk Control Field Directors across multiple states and offices. Supports a variety of business segments including national accounts, large and small commercial accounts, construction, oil & gas, public sector, and more.
Responsible for understanding pertinent data and analytics to develop strategies that impact current business trends within the territories and/or businesses supported.
Preferred locations: Downers Grove IL, Chicago IL, Indianapolis IN, Pittsburg PA, Independence OH, Wyomissing PA, Blue Bell PA; other offices with strong regional presence will be considered.
What Will You Do?- Travel as needed, including long-distance, overnight or multi-night trips to support business needs.
- Identify regional gaps (technical and leadership) and implement plans to address them.
- Ensure Risk Control resources meet business needs and identify career paths in technical and leadership roles in collaboration with Field Directors.
- Collaborate with Field Directors, Home Office Risk Control and business partner leadership to develop regional Risk Control strategies.
- Set time-bound expectations for improvement and take decisive action when improvements are not demonstrated or sustained.
- Partner with Business Partners to leverage Risk Control resources to acquire and retain business and improve profitability.
- Contribute to translating the business plan into Risk Control actions with Regional leadership.
- Take an active leadership role within the division and participate in division-wide projects.
- Represent the company with government, regulatory agencies and professional associations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and superior communication skills.
- Ability to establish credibility quickly and experience managing both on-site and remote employees.
- Experience leading large, diverse groups including other leaders.
- Recognized professional designations (e.g., ASP, CSP, ARM, CPCU, etc.).
- Ten years of experience in safety, risk control/management or related fields (e.g., occupational/environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military experience).
- Four years of leadership experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must have or be able to attain appropriate state-specific certifications where applicable.
