Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Administration, the Associate Director, Administration will supervise a team of Administrative Managers working in six Administrative Service Centers (ASC). The role provides overall leadership to Financial, Human Resources, and Student Affairs staff, delivering high‑quality services to an assigned group of departments across the Faculty of Arts.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide senior expertise in strategic planning, financial management, program development, human resources, and operational management to the assigned group of departments.
- Function independently in directing the work of staff, anticipating and resolving problems, leading decision‑making processes, and maintaining positive relationships with faculty, department heads, and external partners.
- Manage and oversee administrative activities of departments, research centers, and groups within the designated ASC, including supervising the creation, rematching, and salary administration of positions.
- Ensure internal equity within the ASC by reviewing requests for new positions, salary adjustments, overtime, and other compensation.
- Communicate and collaborate with other managers and the Director of Administration to develop best practices, standardized policies, and processes.
- Coordinate administrative support needs with unit chairs and plan resource allocation, including space assignments and physical resources compliance.
- Assess and implement information systems that support ASC initiatives and improve services to students, faculty, and staff.
- Maintain integrity of administrative processes through process mapping and alignment with other Faculty areas.
- Lead budget planning, development, and maintenance for ASC departments, and support the creation of departmental plans and programs, including proposal writing and negotiation with senior administration.
- Stay informed on new developments in university administration and contribute to policy development and committee work as required.
- Proven experience in academic and business environments with demonstrated change management and supervisory expertise.
- Strong managerial, leadership, active listening, and communication skills, with a positive, team‑oriented attitude.
- Ability to communicate clearly, firm, encouraging, and diplomatic while remaining composed under pressure.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities for complex issues.
- Experience in project management, team building, budgeting, financial analysis, and career development of staff.
- Advanced knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff across diverse fields.
- Proficiency with Word, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software;
Workday experience is a strong asset.

Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related experience.
