Coordinator of Spirit Programs

The Coordinator of Spirit Programs provides leadership for the University's spirit programs by overseeing the daily operations, strategic development, and continued growth of assigned spirit teams. This position cultivates a positive student experience while promoting school spirit, supporting campus traditions, representing the university at campus, community, and competitive events, and advancing the visibility and reputation of Comet Spirit Programs.

Minimum

Education and Experience:

Three to five years successful coaching experience, expertise in technical aspects of cheer or dance in respect to national rules and regulations, safety guidelines and maintain an AACCA Certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operations of assigned Comet Spirit Programs, including the UT Dallas Cheerleading or Power Dancers program and the UT Dallas Mascot program. Develop annual goals, strategic initiatives, and operational plans that support the mission and vision of Comet Spirit Programs. Coordinate team schedules, appearance requests, practices, travel, equipment, uniforms, and inventory. Collaborate with the Director of Student Involvement & Engagement to develop program budgets, forecast annual expenses, and monitor expenditures.

Lead the artistic direction of the program by developing choreography and coordinating game-day performances, campus appearances, special events, and competition routines. Develop and implement year-round recruitment strategies to attract talented prospective student-athletes. Build relationships with high school and community college coaches, dance studios, cheer gyms, and prospective students. Coordinate marketing efforts for Comet Spirit Programs in collaboration with Student Affairs Marketing.

Maintain websites, social media, photography, and promotional materials that enhance program visibility and recruitment. Represent Comet Spirit Programs on university committees and planning teams including Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, and other campus traditions. Provide direct supervision, training, scheduling, and performance management for one part-time staff member. Supervise student employee(s) while supporting their professional development and daily responsibilities. Collaborate with university departments, alumni, vendors, athletics partners, and external organizations to advance the goals of Comet Spirit Programs.

Coordinate team travel, appearances, special events, and other logistical needs in partnership with departmental staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and

Working Conditions:

Computer and office environment, occasionally standing/walking for events, occasional lifting. Activities will include standing for long periods of time, occasional outside activities, and exposure to loud music.

Additional Information:
Remote Work Notice:
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.

Work Schedule:

Standard work hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support scheduled events and departmental operations.
