As we continue to grow and evolve, we're seeking an experienced Deputy Director to help lead Commonweal's next chapter.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director serves as Commonweal's senior internal leader and strategic partner, providing leadership across finance, human resources, operations, technology, administration, organizational development, and program support. This role helps strengthen organizational systems, develop leaders, improve operational effectiveness, and ensure that Commonweal's infrastructure supports the important work happening across our programs.
We're looking for someone who:- Has significant senior leadership experience managing complex organizations or departments.
- Brings strong operational, financial, and organizational management skills.
- Is an experienced people leader who enjoys coaching others and building high-performing teams.
- Thinks strategically while remaining practical and solution-oriented.
- Is comfortable leading organizational change while preserving a collaborative and respectful culture.
- Values relationships, clear communication, and thoughtful decision-making.

Location: Hybrid. Regular on-site work at Commonweal's headquarters in Bolinas, California, with flexibility for remote work when appropriate.
Salary: $175,000–$205,000 annually, depending on experience.
Status: Full-time, Regular, Exempt.
