Role Overview:

The Field Organizing Manager is responsible for overseeing the massive volunteer field network that we'll build to send Abdul to the U.S. Senate. That will include program design, volunteer recruitment and leadership development, team building and coordination, and voter contact activities. This will be a full time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline.

This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, with campaign leadership, a comprehensive field plan (timeline, goals, metrics) for voter contact (canvassing, phone/text/door), volunteer recruitment, GOTV (Get Out The Vote), persuasion, persuasion targeting, and turnout in key geographies
  • Allocate resources (staff, volunteer time, budget, materials) across regions (counties, districts, precincts) to maximize return
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage field volunteers across various roles and a statewide network of localized teams
  • Develop volunteer leadership programs so volunteers take on leadership roles (team captains, local organizers, etc)
  • Oversee execution of specified voter contact programs (eg. canvassing or events) and ensure quality control: script adherence, data capture, feedback loops, issue resolution
  • Build capacity in the field: ensure staff and key volunteers understand data tools (VAN / Vote builder / other), turfing, targeting, volunteer management
  • Work closely with data / targeting teams to refine lists, turf, prioritize contacts, and adjust ground strategy in response to field results
  • Plan and lead the GOTV phase: early voting, absentee/mail ballot strategy, election day operations
  • Coordinate election day logistics: transportation, poll watchers, precinct coverage, volunteer shifts, material distribution
  • Coordinate with allied groups to maximize alignment and avoid duplication; possibly joint outreach or coalition work
  • Procure and manage field infrastructure: offices, vehicles, materials, phones/tablets, etc.
  • Provide regular (weekly/bi-weekly) reports to campaign leadership on progress vs. goals, challenges, adjustments
  • Use data to drive continuous improvement:
After major milestones, facilitate internal debriefs and document lessons learned
  • Coordinate with other campaign departments to ensure field efforts are leveraged fully (media, social, earned, etc.)
  • Ensure safety, legal compliance, and risk management in field operations

Qualifications (Required):

  • Ability to translate strategy into concrete tactics; know when to shift tactics; strong judgment under pressure
  • Highly proficient with VAN/Vote builder and and other relevant tools (mapping software, phone-bank/text platforms, spreadsheets, project management tools, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with voter files (VAN / Vote Builder or equivalent), targeting, turfing, metrics. Comfortable working with data to inform decisions
  • Recruiting, training, retaining volunteers; creating leadership pipelines. Strong people management, coaching, and customer service skills
  • Excellent project management; able to juggle many moving parts; strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable overseeing complex logistics: event planning, supply chain, field offices, transportation
  • A minimum of 3 years in field organizing / field directing, preferably for U.S. Senate, gubernatorial, or other large scale state or federal campaigns
  • Must have transportation to attend events as needed
  • Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive
  • Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends, and travel frequently throughout the state

  • Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization…
