Overview
The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking a department director to develop and execute Community Development departmental structure, policy, and program implementation. The nature of work will include, but is not limited to the following:
- Provide program oversight and execute the strategic direction of the Community Development (CD) division. Make recommendations for adoption of proposed modification to programs to Superintendent.
- Develop strategic initiatives and partnerships with community entities to build capacity to serve individuals with DD.
- Hire, assign, manage, and supervise the CD staff. Formally evaluate and provide feedback to the staff.
- Oversee the management of the Workforce Development Division including the partnership with the Employment Collaborative of Cuyahoga County (ECCC).
- Develop and monitor all RFP/agreements with community partners to ensure compliance with contractual language, provide resources for outcome achievement and gather/analyze survey data at the conclusion of said agreements.
- Plan and oversee family engagement events to increase familiarity with board services/supports.
- Oversee agency’s volunteer initiatives including volunteer guardian program.
- Oversee agency’s advocacy initiatives, including resource management, event planning, and voter engagement/education.
- Oversee the Good Life Ambassador program and Leadership Council program, including hiring, outcome achievement, scope of work and overseeing content/messaging.
- Oversee broader engagement and development to increase the community’s capacity to serve people with developmental abilities, including but not limited to senior centers/services, faith-based organizations, and caregiver groups.
- Receive and coordinate all requests for presentations, resource fairs and use of the universal changing table from the community. Coordinate presentation requests with other Cuyahoga DD departments as warranted. Build and maintain a database of agency-wide presentations.
- Continuously build and oversee the Online Resource Guide to Inclusive Jobs, Events and Places, making sure that adequate community representation is shared and Cuyahoga DD staff, providers, and the community know its benefits.

SALARY: The salary listed in the header is the base salary for all department directors in Pay Schedule G. It is important to understand that the actual starting salary will be determined based on many factors including the breadth and depth of the knowledge, skills, education and experiences brought by the candidate. Also, it is Cuyahoga DD’s intent to pay each employee a salary that is reasonable and competitive based on the market rate for the position, while also considering not only internal equity but also the budgetary constraints.
Remote Work: There is an onsite expectation for all leadership positions. This position will work a hybrid work schedule that includes some remote work at the direction of the Superintendent. This position is based at our Donzella Administration building.

- Masters' Degree in Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum seven years’ experience in working with persons with DD.
