Summary:

The primary objective of Advancement (Development and Alumni Relations) at the Raymond
A. Mason School of Business is to secure private funds for the School from alumni, corporations, and friends of the institution. The Director of Development is responsible for outreach to their assigned portfolio of donors, while also developing relationships and fundraising to benefit the Mason School of Business. They will collaborate with alumni engagement and gift officers.
The Director of Development will set high standards for relationship building, alumni engagement, volunteer management and collaboration among colleagues to ensure the success of William & Mary’s fundraising efforts. They will collaborate with team members in executing a focused strategy. They will create, coordinate and implement thoughtful and donor-centric development strategies designed to reach the School’s leadership prospects, many of whom have multiple philanthropic interests at William & Mary.
This person will be accountable for significant personal goals in a manner that clearly values building lifelong relationships and a culture of philanthropy.

Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Progressively responsible experience in academic fundraising or a related field.
Proven ability to identify, qualify, and cultivate prospective major gift donors, expertise in drafting and executing creative individual and region-wide donor and prospect strategies, and the demonstrated ability to solicit and secure significant private gifts is expected.
Strategic vision to harness the potential of the larger community toward engagement and philanthropic goals.
Proven ability and desire to reach aggressive goals.
Interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Fluency in using persuasive language to promote visionary gift opportunities.

Master’s degree in Business or a related field.
Experience in higher education.
Conditions of Employment:
Flexible work hours due to weekend and after-hour events and up to 35% travel required. Remote work scheduling will be determined by the administration of the Mason School of Business.
This position may require additional hours beyond the typical 40 hour work week, to include occasional evening, night and weekend work, and/or overnight travel, as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
This is a restricted position subject to the availability of funding.
This position isnoteligible for work visa sponsorship.
Hiring Range: Up to $100,000 commensurate with experience
