This Extension Associate (100% Extension) will serve as the designated food safety associate for the HGIC, and will specialize in coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of on line programming and marketing for the Food Systems and Safety Team.

This is a state-wide position.

• 75% - Provide assistance to South Carolina Stakeholders by responding to food safety inquiries received through the HGIC. Designs, develops, implements and evaluates online curriculum for the FSS Team. Coordinates, designs and evaluates marketing for the FSS Team. Collaborates with the Food Systems and Safety team on food safety Extension programs to enhance delivery. Develops Extension Publications and other scientific-based materials for Clemson Cooperative Extension.
  
  Develops and maintains applied research in consumer food safety and preservation that produces the scholarly requirements of the assigned job title.
• 5% - Maintains and submits in a timely manner internal reports (Salesforce) or similar reports and updates/data as requested by the CAFLS Dean, Department Chair, Extension Director, and Food Systems and Safety Program Team Leadership.
• 5% - Facilitates communication with, Clemson Cooperative Extension, and the Food Systems and Safety team, and other stakeholders by attending meetings (discipline specific departmental meetings, program team meetings, industry organization meetings and others) when necessary; by answering emails, phones calls and other work-related communications; and working with media specialists to disseminate information and market/publicize Clemson Cooperative Extension and the Food Systems and Safety program team.
• 15% - Collaborates with the Food Systems and Safety (FSS) team to plan and deliver food safety-focused social media content and marketing initiatives.

• M.S. (Masters of Science) in Food Science/Technology or other related field

• Experience with home food preservation.
• Experience with developing social media content and marketing strategies.

Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.

Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

Doesn't provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may manage fund allocation

Expected Salary Range

54,300 - $72,300.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
