BASIC FUNCTION:
Serves as a senior administrative and operational leader within the Office of Public Safety. This position is responsible for planning, coordination, administration, compliance oversight, budgeting, personnel supervision, fleet management, transportation operations, training administration, property and evidence management, safety programs, security technology initiatives, and support of university public safety operations.
The position functions as the university's primary administrator for transportation services, parking program administration, traffic and mobility management, and fleet operations while providing critical support for campus safety initiatives, regulatory compliance programs, emergency preparedness efforts, training administration, major campus events, and office operations. The role requires extensive collaboration with campus departments and offices, external vendors, regulatory agencies, and community partners to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant transportation and public safety services across the institution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transportation Operations and Administration- Administration and coordination of all university transportation services, requests, and programs.
- Coordinate transportation requests submitted through approved university scheduling systems, (25
LIVE software) - Manage transportation services for Athletics, Admissions, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Nursing, Community Service, Conferences, Summer Programs, and other university departments.
- Oversee shuttle operations, including scheduling, staffing, budgeting, service evaluation, and route management.
- Manage transportation services for commencement, orientation, move-in, family weekend, conferences, and special events.
- Coordinate shuttle operations for athletics, student events, and institutional programs.
- Administer transportation tracking and technology platforms, including shuttle management applications and vehicle utilization systems. (Passio Go app)
- Operate university vehicles when operational needs require.
- Be trained to drive and operate university owned 40' Mobile Nursing Unit
- Conduct operational oversight of the university's transportation fleet.
- Ensure fleet vehicles are properly registered, inspected, licensed, and compliant with applicable regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive records for maintenance, inspections, registrations, warranties, leases, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and vendor service appointments.
- Develop and implement fleet replacement schedules and vehicle acquisition initiatives.
- Assist with preparation of vehicle specifications and procurement processes.
- Manage lease agreements, vendor invoices, fuel programs, toll programs, and fleet-related expenditures.
- Maintain service schedules and operational readiness of executive vehicles, including Presidential and Chancellor vehicles.
- Support administration of specialized university vehicles, including wellness or community service vehicles as assigned.
- Supervise full-time, part-time, student, volunteer, and per diem transportation personnel.
- Schedule drivers and transportation staff to support University operations and events.
- Process payroll, timekeeping, and related personnel documentation.
- Develop and maintain driver qualification files and certification records.
- Coordinate onboarding, training, recertification, and professional development programs for transportation personnel.
- Administer driver safety programs and maintain authorized driver databases.
- Monitor compliance with university driving standards, risk management requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Provide administrative support to Public Safety leadership, including maintaining personnel training records, certifications and continuing professional development offerings.
- Assist in implementing departmental goals, strategic initiatives, and operational objectives.
