The Membership Manageris responsible for enhancing the overall member experience by developing, administering, and continuously improving member programs and services. This role oversees the organization's membership operations, including the maintenance of accurate member records in the database, assisting with event operations, and implementation of processes that support member engagement and retention. The Manager identifies opportunities for new member services, develops program content, scope, and budgets, and collaborates across departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality, value-driven benefits that support the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
Duties and responsibilities:- Work with the Senior Vice President & COO and other senior leadership to identify and develop membership opportunities that align with the CGA’s long term objectives.
- Achieve revenue goals for the Association through annual membership retention & recruitment campaigns and the promotion of Association events.
- Outreach to and educate existing and prospective members about the role CGA serves in the industry and the positive impacts on their businesses.
- Provide outstanding customer service managing the membership services functions from beginning to end for existing members including annual renewal processes, invoicing, sending member welcome kits, and executing member benefits to assure strong renewals.
- Design, promote and execute the quarterly, executive-led store tour series.
- Communicate with the Senior Vice President & COO and other senior leadership on the status of a variety of membership and sponsorship initiatives.
- Complete regular and frequent updates and maintenance of the Association’s member database.
- Represent CGA with members at social events, conventions, openings, and galas, as required.
- Provide support to the events department with planning and logistics for various member events and meetings for the Association.
- Assist members and event attendees with inquiries before and during events.
- Embrace and actively contribute to CGA’s positive team culture.
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience preferably working in a trade association or membership environment
- 4-year college degree in business, marketing, communications, or related subject, or equivalent work experience.
- Outgoing & energetic personality
- Strong understanding of digital communications, social media, and online engagement, with demonstrated experience using current and emerging digital platforms and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and tasks while being highly organized
- Strong background in delivering outstanding member service
- Computer literacy including familiarity with membership database management systems (specifically Imis EMS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills in both a group and one-on-one setting
Work is generally performed in an office environment in downtown Sacramento with a flexible work from home option following completion of 90-day performance evaluation. Occasional overnight travel to CGA events throughout California.
The California Grocers Association provides medical, dental, and vison insurance for employee and eligible dependents, and life insurance and long term disability insurance for the employee. The position is full time, non-exempt. Salary range is $30 to $35 per hour based on experience and credentials.
