Digital Accessibility Operations Manager

Work location:

Remote/telecommute

Work hours:

9am-5pm

The Optum Digital Accessibility Program (ODAP) sponsored by Phil Mckoy completes annual assessments for existing Optum properties. The Accessibility Center of Excellence provides accessibility expertise, including coaching and annual assessments, to teams across Optum, United Healthcare and United Health Group. Additionally the team has comprehensive learning, standards and tooling programs, and is delivering on disability inclusion initiatives across Optum Technology. Not only do shared resources need to be coordinated across these initiatives, but the initiatives themselves need to deliver measurable results in a timely manner to enterprise clients and executives.

Team size: 57 members

Team skill sets: 6 leads, 3 managers, 6 PDF accessibility engineers, 1 communications consultant, 41 accessibility engineers

Top responsibilities:

  • Establish and coordinate projects that will meet objectives for the practice.
  • Define and manage schedule, budget, and resources as well as tracking and reporting against plan for a mid-sized team.
  • Collect, analyze and maintain financial forecast information (e.g. labor, hardware, software), using input from applicable sources.
  • Work with stakeholders to establish/apply quality objectives, criteria, standards and levels using appropriate quality management methods.
  • Identify and forecast variances and trends to ensure that project schedules and resource requirements are met.
  • Develop, communicate and implement issue management plans and strategies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of operations, goals, and policies and procedures of internal business partners in order to provide effective support.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in an environment requiring flexibility, agility and the ability to adapt to change.
  • Seek feedback from stakeholders to determine overall success of projects.
  • Ensure performance is tracked accurately utilizing internal tools and processes (e.g., dashboards; scorecards; reports).

Ideal candidate background:
Experience managing operations and projects within a digital accessibility team, health care industry knowledge, project management experience using data and information to make business decisions.

Required skills/attributes:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative technical environment collaboratively and productively with both diverse teams and independently
  • 3+ years of project management experience using data and information to make business decisions
  • 3+ years of experience with strategic planning, risk management, and change management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MS Project
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodology

Preferred skills/attributes:
Experience managing operations and projects within a digital accessibility team, and collaborating on multiple projects with shared resources in a matrixed environment.
