Head of Procurement & Trading, Singapore (Category Management / Buying / Supply Chain / SIOP / Pricing)

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in driving growth at the world’s leading maritime supplier of provisions and stores?

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where the impact of your work is felt immediately? Are you energized by playing a hands-on role in shaping and executing company strategy? And are you looking to join a fast-growing organization that is relentlessly committed to improving seafarer welfare through On-Time, In-Full delivery?

Join our senior leadership team in Singapore and help shape the future of our business.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Singapore, and working in close collaboration with local stakeholders and our global procurement team, you will play a key role within our Singapore leadership team. This position is based in Singapore.

We’re looking for a strong leadership profile with a sharp focus on quality, process discipline and continuous improvement.

Your primary focus will be to train, guide and coach our Singapore-based purchasers alongside our remote support teams in Dubai and Manila, ensuring we consistently offer the right products to our customers. Alongside this, you will work closely with our global procurement team to drive consolidation of our product assortment, growing both margins and purchasing power across the markets we operate in.

You can expect an entrepreneurial environment where fresh thinking is welcomed, and new ideas for improvement are actively encouraged and recognized.

More specifically, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Define and continuously optimize our stocking strategy to maximize warehouse utilization and efficiency.
  • Drive continuous growth in total profit on stock items by combining deep local market insight with smart, data-driven pricing strategies.
  • Uphold rigorous data discipline across an assortment of more than 250,000 SKUs.
  • Secure the best possible prices and rebate agreements with vendors through vendor consolidation, structured negotiations and a strong category management approach.
  • Champion best-practice sharing across the region and globally to continuously optimize the way we work.
  • Own our inventory replenishment processes end-to-end, ensuring consistent on-time, in-full delivery while minimizing aging stock.
  • Motivate, lead and develop our local category and inventory managers, building a strong and sustainable talent pipeline.
  • Take direct ownership of several key product categories.
Personality matters

You are a hands-on leader with strong business acumen and a track record of generating tangible value. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get into the detail yourself when needed, and you have the analytical rigor to deep-dive into operational processes and uncover opportunities for improvement. A skilled negotiator, communicator and team player, you can break down complex problems into clear, practical solutions — and bring stakeholders along with you to adopt them.

Qualifications

& requirements

Ideally, you hold an MBA or Master’s degree together with 10-15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a commercial leadership role. Candidates with other educational backgrounds will also be considered, depending on relevant experience.

  • A Bachelor’s, MBA or Master’s degree in a related business field is highly preferred.
  • A deep understanding of procurement, buying and SIOP, backed by a proven track record of managing and negotiating with vendors.
  • A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, business acumen, internal drive to succeed and excellent communication skills.
  • A logical, methodical and structured approach to problem-solving.
