About the Team
There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs.
The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, Pets Hotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business.
Collaborative Work Environment: At Pet Smart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Our hybrid approach is designed to foster strong collaboration while also supporting flexibility and individual success.
Aboutthe Job
The Sr. Analyst, Labor Operations develops and enables store labor strategies that align staffing with business demand, operational priorities, and the customer experience. This position evaluates staffing and productivity trends, identifies labor-model opportunities, translates analysis into clear business requirements, and partners across teams to support accurate labor allocation and planning. The role also leads certain annual labor-planning activities, including core revenue bands, services tiers, and total-store hours-of-operation strategy
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Responsible for workforce and labor modeling to provide actionable insights to help ensure labor aligns with company targets.
- Analyze current labor models in core and services to assess areas of opportunity to further enhance and align store labor spend to company financial goals.
- Identifies, evaluates, and defines staffing trends to support labor performance through total store cross-functional staffing
- Provides staffing guidance to field leaders and partners to ensure staffing alignment.
- Assesses, designs, and provides labor model recommendations for all businesses to optimize and influence store labor performance.
- Responsible for configuration and maintenance of store facing labor management resources (i.e. staffing tools).
- Responsible for development of store labor hour capacity thresholds taking into account current headcounts, PT/FT status, and other key drivers.
- Analyze and manages process to update annual core revenue bands and services tiers
- Owns the annual assessment, recommendation, and implementation of Total Store hours of operation.
- 2+ years’ experience in WFM capacity and staffing planning is required.
- Prior project management experience is highly preferred.
- Retail store operations experience preferred.
- Must have excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Must demonstrate strong proficiency in workforce management
- Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite required including intermediate to advanced Excel and Access application skills.
- Strongly prefer experience with Micro Strategy, Alteryx, and VBA.
