Director of Accounting - HYBRID WFH

Steven Douglas is exclusively partnering with a large Florida-based financial services organization on a newly created Director of Accounting role. Reporting to the Operations Controller, this position is being created to develop close calendars and schedules for every team in finance — working directly with FP&A, Treasury, Financial Reporting, and other groups to standardize how the close actually gets done. You'd also be continuing an active Dynamics 365 implementation and the automation work that comes with it.

This opportunity will work a hybrid schedule, offering the flexibility for a candidate to work from home 3 days/week.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, and own the close calendar end to end
• Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Financial Reporting, and other groups to build standardized close procedures across the entire finance org
• Oversee the general ledger, reconciliations, balance sheet integrity, and Accounts Payable
• Continue a Dynamics 365 implementation and drive related automation initiatives
• Support internal and external audit
• Lead and develop a team (Accounting Manager and Accounting Supervisor report to this seat)

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (Master's/MBA a plus)
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong GAAP knowledge
• 5+ years leading teams
• Prior Insurance industry experience preferred
• CPA preferred
