The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth. Travel within the tri-county vicinage will be required. This position may be reassigned to another county within the vicinage. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. Every applicant should be aware that if selected for this position, you must be prepared to work in Cumberland (Bridgeton, NJ), Gloucester (Woodbury & Deptford, NJ), and Salem (Salem, NJ) Counties as needed.

REMOTE WORK:
The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties
  • Supervising clerical and professional staff
  • Update and maintain Judiciary COOP (Continuity of Operations Plan) with vicinage representatives
  • Development and maintenance of Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)
  • Recommending actions such as hiring, firing, promoting, and disciplining
  • Defining objectives for work performance; conducting formal work performance evaluations with staff
  • Communicating directives, guidelines, and policies to staff; determining staff training needs
  • Reconciling staff grievances;
    Instructing staff on work-related matters
  • Assigning, regulating, and reviewing work/specific duties with staff in accordance with operating schedules
  • Providing direction to staff for achieving quality and timeliness standards
  • Developing and managing an operating budget; allocating resources (human, financial, materials, and equipment)
  • Advising management of personnel issues; treating all personnel, clients, and the public with dignity and respect
  • Plan implementation of projects and programs
  • Compile statistical data on workload volume, backlog, unit expenditures, personnel actions, financial transactions, fixed assets, equipment, or attendance
  • Develop communication plans within or outside the organization or unit
  • Direct and/or coordinate work between units and teams
  • Prioritize work or work operations for unit or organization
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience, one year of which shall have included experience in purchasing, facilities management, operations management, records retention, transcript services, jury management, statistical reporting, investigations and/or library administration.

Substitution:
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above –OR– a law degree from an approved American Bar Association law school may be substituted for two years of general experience as indicated above.
