Pay Range $62,400 - $71,000

Pay rates at Syracuse University are based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, the job responsibilities; the candidate’s education, training, work experience and key competencies; the university’s strategic priorities; internal peer equity; applicable federal, state, local laws, grant funding and contractual requisites; and external market analyses.

The Institute for Sustainability Engagement ( ISE ) is a leading interdisciplinary applied research institute within ECS , uniting faculty and staff across other universities in the Central New York Region, throughout New York State and across the nation. This position provides centralized relationship management with multiple ISE funders as well as stakeholder management for the Institute. This position will work across programs focused on water sector workforce development, leadership training, finance, and policy.

This role is intended for a seasoned project manager with both proven success in project management and industry knowledge. The successful candidate will require minimal onboarding and demonstrate an ability to move existing projects closer to completion while integrating people, processes, strategic priorities, and position them for future funding. The candidate will be responsible for engaging staff and faculty across campus in ISE programs to enhance the sustainability engagement work of the university.

The position will lead a team of four staff members, including a full-time Associate, part-time employees and student interns from across campus. This is a role reporting to the institute leadership, with the responsibility of growing the interdisciplinary applied research institute.

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (public administration, partnership management, environmental/earth science, communications, civil/environmental/chemical engineering, environmental management/studies, or related field)
• Minimum of six years of progressively responsible, operations, program management experience and full-time experience working in water sector programming.
• At least two years of management and supervisory experience
• Proven record of project management and/or project management certification ( PMP )

• Ability to launch projects with limited oversight
• Technical expertise water career certifications, education requirements, workforce trends, and infrastructure trends.
• Water and wastewater utility, regulatory and/or consulting experience
• Project management certification or experience
• Experience project agile project management tools and software programs

• Manage funding portfolio including timelines, deliverables, and related program needs.
• Create and oversee project management systems, dependencies, and risk registers.
