Executive Director/Operations Manager – Part-Time, New Mexico-Based (WFH)

Rent Responsibly is an education and community‑building platform for short‑term rental operators as well as an association management service provider to short‑term rental associations around the country.

The Executive Director or Operations Manager (title dependent upon experience) will support our client, the New Mexico Short‑Term Rental Association (NMSTRA), to lead its revenue growth, member engagement, operations, and advocacy initiatives. This part‑time role is ideal for a self‑managed go‑getter who can balance ambition and creativity with hands‑on execution.

The New Mexico Short‑Term Rental Association (NMSTRA) is the statewide voice for short‑term rental hosts and property managers, advocating for fair, balanced policies and protecting property rights throughout New Mexico. Founded as the Santa Fee Short‑Term Rental Alliance, NMSTRA grew into a unified organization supporting tourism and local businesses across the Land of Enchantment. The association is dedicated to strengthening the short‑term rental community by fostering collaboration, promoting responsible practices, and ensuring that members have the support they need to thrive.

NMSTRA is powered by a passionate, community‑minded board that brings a uniquely New Mexico blend of creativity, authenticity, and determination to their work. Deeply invested in their state and its people, the board balances collaboration and fun with a strong commitment to advocacy and action. They strive to build a connected community and ensure short‑term rental owners have a meaningful voice, now and in the future.

This role starts part‑time and may expand based on the organization’s growth.

The Executive Director or Operations Manager will report to Rent Responsibly’s Director of Alliance Operations and the board of NMSTRA. This position is work‑from‑home and will average 45 hours per month. Applicants must be based in New Mexico. The position will start in September.

Candidates without executive director experience will start as an Operational Manager and, with success in the role, receive training and professional development to become an Executive Director.

• Revenue Growth and Retention:
  Includes memberships, sponsors, donations, and the development and management of additional revenue opportunities.
• The planning and management of virtual and in‑person events, including capturing polished photo and video content for future use.
• Posting and engaging with followers on social media.
• Engaging with members inside the member portal.
• Developing and sharing new member benefits.
• Email Communications:
  Includes emails to members and subscribers, including but not limited to a monthly newsletter, advocacy alerts and regulatory updates, event registration promotion, news, and sales promotions.
• Leadership meeting management:
  Includes agenda preparation, meeting facilitation, action item tracking and follow‑up, execution of meeting directives, meeting reminders, and meeting scheduling.
• Inbox management:
  Includes email inbox, social media direct message inboxes, and the member portal direct message inbox.
• Liaise with Rent Responsibly’s association support team.

• Local news monitoring and media relations:
  Includes tracking important news developments, managing inbound and outbound connections with reporters, and preparing board members for media opportunities.
• Legislation and Issue Tracking:
  Includes monitoring of the regulatory dashboard and alerts (provided by Rent Responsibly), monitoring other regulatory sources, and keeping a pulse on local/state conversations.
