MAU is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for our client in Columbia, SC. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical support for manufacturing processes, using hands-on problem-solving to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information:
- Day Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (onsite position; remote work not available)
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 3 years of experience in an engineering position
- Experience with CNC lathes, programming, and maintenance
- CNC grinding experience
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls
- Bearings industry experience
General Requirements:
- Ability to read technical drawings and perform mechanical evaluations
- Proficiency in CAD software or manual charted drawing for tooling design
- Strong communication skills across verbal, written, and graphical mediums
- Knowledge of statistical methods for estimating manufacturing requirements
- Commitment to continuous improvement systems including 5S, Kaizen, and Koyo Production Systems
- Understanding of TS16949 and ISO
14000 standards
Essential Functions:
- Develop and evaluate manufacturing methods
- Implement hands-on solutions to improve manufacturing processes, safety, and productivity
- Analyze and troubleshoot production equipment based on technical drawings
- Train Operators, Setup Personnel, and Technicians to enhance technical capabilities
- Communicate with all organizational levels to optimize production methods
- Design and document tooling using CAD or manual drawings
- Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow
- Design equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency
- Collaborate with planning and design teams to align product and tooling for efficient production
- Work with vendors to define product specs and purchase materials or equipment
- Evaluate products based on specifications and quality standards
- Estimate production times, staffing, and related costs for management decision-making
- Coordinate with management and engineering on production capabilities and schedules
- Apply statistical analysis and machine capability studies to forecast manufacturing needs
- Plan and report on Capital and Non-Capital cost-reduction projects
- Support continuous improvement efforts and quality systems throughout the plant
Working Conditions:
- Approximately 75% of work is performed in a manufacturing environment and 25% in an office setting
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in manufacturing areas (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes)
Physical Demands:
- Requires hand, arm, and finger dexterity for computer operation and technical work
- Exposure to standard manufacturing conditions with minimal health or safety risks
