Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer Technician to join our Colorado Manufacturing team supporting a stand‑alone manufacturing facility performing work on DoD systems. This engineering technician will work on the manufacturing floor in Colorado Springs, CO and will not be a remote position.
Primary Responsibilities- Support the manufacturing floor by monitoring processes, addressing challenges, and collaborating with manufacturing engineering on complex issues.
- Assess product quality and identify manufacturing process flaws.
- Assist manufacturing engineers in designing and implementing production processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Modify production documentation as required.
- Use MES software (Solumina) to implement, track, monitor, and control manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
- Generate and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOMs).
- Create routings inside Solumina to account for accurate run times.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production teams to identify and execute continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to identify and reduce risks in the production processes.
- Resolve problems related to production jobs such as configuration changes, engineering changes, material issues, and schedule priority adjustments.
- Support ISO
9001/AS9100 processes within the department.
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.
- Experience with machining, including machining and CNC 5‑axis lathes and mills.
- Experience with manufacturing, assembly, and integration, especially with machining and mechanical components.
- Experience with MRP and ERP/PLM/MES systems.
- Experience with ISO
9001/AS9100 processes. - Intermediate proficiency with Solid Works.
- Basic understanding of GD&T.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Resident of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO.
- US Citizen with a current Final Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Experience with manufacturing, assembly, integration, procedure development, and implementation.
- Experience with composite machining.
- Intermediate understanding of GD&T.
- Hands‑on experience with machining, mechanical and/or structural assembly processes and equipment.
- Experience with contactless structured blue light scanning.
- Experience developing and maintaining PFMEAs.
- Experience with Deltek, Costpoint ERP, MRP, Solumina, and Windchill.
- Knowledge of AS6500 manufacturing management program.
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Final Secret security Clearance.
- Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
