Are you a skilled machinist who takes pride in precision CNC and manual machining for mission-critical pump components? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.
As our new Machinist II - 2nd Shift, you will be performing complete setup, programming, editing, and operation of CNC and manual machines to manufacture centrifugal pump components at our Peerless Pump facility in Indianapolis. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.
What you will be doing
As a key part of the Process Pump Machining team, you'll create impact by Delivering precision-machined components that power Peerless centrifugal pumps used in critical applications worldwide, while mentoring teammates and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Set up, program (Fanuc/G Code), edit, and operate CNC machining centers, lathes, mills, and manual machines to produce pump components to tight tolerances
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials; calculate and set speed, feed, depth of cut, and coolant flow parameters
- Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust offsets, tooling, and controls to maintain quality
- Verify finished work pieces against prints and specifications; perform secondary operations including deburring, drilling, and tapping
- Train and mentor fellow machinists, maintain equipment through preventative maintenance, and uphold 5S, safety, and quality standards
What makes you a great fit

- This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, lift/push/pull, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; twist and reach when assembling parts in a non-climate-controlled factory environment.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future
It is a plus if you also:
- 2-4 years of manual machining experience (mills, drills, grinders) and 1-3 years of CNC programming/setup experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Allen‑Bradley controls
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and experience in a job shop machining environment
- Experience with material handling equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists) and familiarity with Lean/manufacturing principles
