Marketing Communications Lead – Climate Education Nonprofit Overview:

Join our passionate team dedicated to educating and empowering education communities about climate change and environmental sustainability. We are seeking a talented Marketing Communications Lead to drive our outreach efforts and amplify our message in support of and alignment with our existing program goals and outcomes. This is a Full Time remote position with occasional travel. High-speed broadband access required.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing communication strategies to raise awareness of our organization’s mission, programs, and initiatives.
  • Craft compelling messaging and storytelling content for various channels including social media, email newsletters, website, blogs, and press releases, maintaining brand integrity across platforms, resources, and channels.
  • Proactively collaborate with the content team to produce engaging multimedia content (presentations, videos, infographics, etc.) that effectively communicates complex climate education concepts.
  • Manage our social media presence, including collaborating on content calendars, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize strategies.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with national and international media outlets (e.g. New York Times, The Guardian, Forbes, Edutopia, etc.), influencers, and partners to secure coverage and partnerships that extend our reach.
  • Coordinate and execute digital advertising campaigns to promote events, fundraising efforts, and educational resources.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in marketing communications and climate education to continuously innovate our strategies.

    • Set a clear, consistent direction for brand identity and voice, ensuring cohesion across all channels and materials
    • Drive a forward-thinking, data-informed digital strategy to expand reach, engagement, and influence
    • Lead and empower teams and stakeholders to communicate impact effectively and consistently, both internally and externally

    Core Priority 2:
    Community engagement and relationship building

    • Foster trust, belonging, and connection across target communities
    • Develop inclusive messaging and storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences and across our programs
    • Activate two-way communication channels (social, email, events, forums) to listen as much as we speak
    • Build and nurture advocates, ambassadors, and peer influencers within the community

    Core Priority 3:
    Driving measurable impact for programs and partners

    • Align communications with program goals to support awareness, engagement, and outcomes
    • Highlight partner contributions through tailored messaging, storytelling, and visibility opportunities
    • Track and report on key performance indicators that reflect program and partner impact
    • Collaborate across teams to surface compelling impact stories and data-driven results

    Core Priority 4:
    Internal communications and culture

    • Strengthen internal communications to ensure team members are informed aligned, and connected to the mission
    • Support leadership in communicating vision, priorities, and change with clarity and consistency
    • Promote a positive, inclusive culture through storytelling, team engagement, and shared values
    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field or equivalent level of coursework, training, or on-the-job experience.

    2. Proven experience in marketing communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector, education, or related fields, such as environmental advocacy.

    3. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a knack for storytelling and translating technical information into accessible content.
