Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for managing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies that support the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada’s mission, programs, and impact. Serving as the organization’s in-house marketing expert, this role develops clear, compelling content that advances donor engagement, fundholder stewardship, philanthropic advising, and community initiatives. Working in close collaboration with the Vice President of Donor Relations and cross-functional teams, the Manager ensures consistent, mission-aligned messaging across all channels, supports key events and initiatives, and strengthens the Foundation’s connection to donors, partners, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities 1. Content Creation and Management (60%)
  • Create and distribute high-quality, impactful content across all marketing channels, including the website, social media, newsletters, blogs, and advertising.
  • Design stewardship communications for fund holders, board members and other partners, such as annual reports, investment updates, and event collateral.
  • Maintain and utilize distribution lists to share timely updates on trends in philanthropy, charitable giving tools, and donor resources.
  • Develop and execute communications to promote community initiatives, grantmaking opportunities, and scholarships.
2. Event Management and Promotion (15%)
  • Lead the strategy and execution of six to eight Community Foundation events, from concept through post-event evaluation, ensuring alignment with donor engagement, fundraising, and community impact goals.
  • Serve as the marketing and communications lead for events, integrating branding, messaging, content, décor, and guest experience while collaborating closely with designated staff partners and leadership team.
  • Manage event-related marketing, communications, and working with the Executive Assistant on vendor relationships—including venues, production partners, designers, and service providers—to deliver high-quality, on-brand experiences and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide marketing and communications support for public speaking opportunities and forums for staff and board members.
3. Strategy and Brand Management (10%)
  • In collaboration with the VP of Donor Relations, develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to advance the work of the Community Foundation.
  • Serves as primary editor and brand steward for all communications, ensuring adherence to brand standards across internal and external materials.
  • Implement branding and messaging initiatives, focusing on consistency and customer experience.
4. Digital Marketing and Social Media Management (10%)
  • Manage day-to-day updates and content for the Community Foundation’s website (Word Press and Drupal preferred), including supporting redesign project as needed.
  • Manage social media platforms to engage audiences and build brand visibility.
  • Use analytics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and refine strategies for better results.
5. Vendor and Team Coordination (5%)
  • Coordinate relationships with external vendors and contractors, including agencies, photographers, web developers, and printers.
  • Monitor contracted services for partner websites, ensuring performance meets organizational needs.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance for potential interns and support contractors as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, social media management, and content development.
  • Proven experience in public relations and managing relationships with media contacts.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Canva required, Adobe Suite is a plus) and website editing platforms (Drupal, Word Press).
