About the OrganizationStudent Legal Services, Inc. (SLS) is a non-profit law office serving university students. Our mission is to remove barriers to academic success by providing access to high-quality legal advice, representation, education, and resources. SLS operates offices at The Ohio State University, Kent State University, Bowling Green State University, and Wright State University. (SLS is an independent non-profit organization. PositionSummary
SLS is seeking Marketing and Communications
Coordinator (MCC) to support marketing, social media, communications, and outreach and education efforts across all SLS offices. Located in our Columbus, Ohio office and reporting to the Managing Director, the MCC will manage social media for all offices, develop marketing and educational materials, and coordinate outreach and educational programming to increase awareness of SLS services.
- Develop and implement social media and web content strategies to increase awareness and engagement across student and campus audiences.
- Design and produce marketing content and digital materials aligned with SLS brand standards.
- Manage social media advertising campaigns and analytics tracking.
- Coordinate promotional and branded materials for SLS offices.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that strengthens SLS relationships with students, faculty/staff, parents, university leadership and community stakeholders.
- Proactively translate departmental priorities, initiatives, and impacts into clear, compelling, audience‑appropriate messaging across channels.
- Assist with monthly and annual reporting, communicating SLS’s impact to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate scheduling of educational presentations for SLS attorneys.
- Develop presentation materials for educational programming across all SLS offices, incorporating input and approval from each office.
- Design and produce printed and digital educational materials consistent with SLS brand guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, education, or a related field; or equivalent experience. 2+ years experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Reliable transportation and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to lift and transport promotional materials.
- Experience developing and executing digital communications or social media strategies.
- Ability to create content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
- Familiarity with social media analytics and performance tracking.
- Experience with content design tools.
- Strong understanding of major social media management tools for business (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Google Business Profile)
- Ability to present information in a clear, engaging, and student‑centered manner.
- Comfortable communicating with students, parents, campus partners, and the public.
- Experience coordinating or supporting outreach, event planning, student engagement, or educational programming is preferred.
- Ability to maintain brand consistency across communications.
This position is based at the Ohio State SLS office, 20
E. 11th Avenue, Ohio. Standard business hours are in‑office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Potential for limited work from home after trial period). Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach events. Limited travel to Kent, Bowling Green, and Dayton with travel reimbursement provided.
Salary range: $50,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package including health and dental insurance, retirement match, paid leave, and paid parking.
