Location: USA (Fully Remote; Texas or Washington, DC, preferred)

Reports to: Strategic Communications Manager

About Us:

Good Energy Collective — Elevating Voices for a Sustainable Future

Good Energy Collective is on a mission to advance clean energy while stewarding a socially responsible energy transition. We're looking for a skilled Communications Associate who can manage multiple work streams independently and ensure smooth, efficient operations.

The Opportunity:

Communications Associate I

GEC is hiring for a Communications Associate I. In this role, you will help maintain GEC’s public assets (e.g., website and social media), develop public‑facing communications materials, develop and steward communications processes, and serve in an editorial function for all GEC public content. You’ll support the Strategic Communications Manager by coordinating routine communications activities, developing processes, and drafting position pieces.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, comfort with external communications software, very strong communications and project management skills, and the ability to work cross‑functionally in a remote, mission‑driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with high aptitude for communications and PR as well as comfort working in a fast‑paced, remote workplace.

Working at Good Energy Collective

Good Energy Collective places significant emphasis on a strong and inclusive workplace culture grounded in collaboration and empathy. We are a fully remote U.S.

-based organization, and employees are not expected to relocate, though occasional travel will be required.

Although the role is remote, it is not “work from anywhere.” Employees are expected to maintain regular working hours in their local time from a home office or approved coworking space. To ensure adequate support for the team, the Communications Associate should expect to be available throughout the workday for meetings and timely communication.

The Communications Associate Role

Core Responsibilities:

Your Impact & Influence Coordinate Editorial Process
  • Maintain GEC’s internal deliverable production queue and coordinate all stages of the production process.
  • Act as the first mover for the communications team tasks within the production process.
  • Coordinate queue tasks with other GEC teams.
  • Coordinate contractors as needed (e.g., for copyediting, graphic design).
  • Edit and fact‑check content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency with GEC’s voice and editorial standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and produce visual collateral.
  • Anticipate graphic needs across projects and manage the visual asset pipeline by sourcing images appropriately, creating graphics as needed, and laying out reports, briefs, newsletters, and other materials.
  • Create polished visual designs using Canva or equivalent tools, ensuring consistent quality and brand alignment.
Steward Amplification
  • Manage regular workflows for a variety of media, including newsletters, social media, and websites.
  • Manage production of monthly newsletter from content planning through design and distribution: coordinating contributors, drafting and editing content, routing for approval, ensuring on‑time delivery, and amplifying across social media channels.
  • Maintain current, accurate website content, coordinating updates as needed, in line with GEC’s voice and branding.
  • Lead periodic website redesigns and manage ongoing site feature and functionality reviews.
  • Serve as the point of contact for GEC’s website management vendor.
  • Manage GEC social media presence, developing a content calendar, drafting posts, and responding quickly to news and events relevant to our work.
  • Draft public‑facing content for regular and periodic workflows—such as social media posts, press releases, blog posts, marketing communications, and event marketing materials.
