The Events Job Where Your Work Actually Gets Noticed.
You've coordinated the logistics. Managed the vendors. Tracked the budgets. Shipped the signage on time and caught the room block error before anyone else noticed. And nobody said a word—because in your current role, flawless execution is invisible.
You're ready for a company that treats events as a growth engine, not a cost center.
Magellan Financial is hiring an Event & Travel Coordinator at $55,000–$75,000+ base (negotiable for the right fit), plus a benefits package built for people who plan to stay: 401(k) with 100% company match up to 6%, heavily subsidized medical/dental/vision, 3–5 weeks PTO (growing with tenure), and more. Full-time. In-office in Topeka, KS. Minimal travel—once per month or less.
The OpportunityMagellan Financial is a national financial distribution company that partners with elite independent financial advisors nationwide. The brand runs on a simple operating standard—More. Better. Different.—and events are where that standard becomes tangible. Multi-day destination conferences. Partner-facing experiences. Internal gatherings that set the tone for a high-performance culture. Every event is a direct expression of the brand, and every detail either reinforces that reputation or erodes it.
You’ll be the third person on the Event Planning Team, joining at the exact moment the company is scaling event volume and complexity. This isn't a role where processes already exist, and you simply follow them. You’ll build the checklists, SOPs, and repeatable systems that allow the events function to grow without growing chaos. Your fingerprints will be on the operational infrastructure for years.
Your scope includes full logistics ownership—timelines, run-of-show documents, execution plans from planning through teardown. You’ll source and coordinate venues, hotels, catering, A/V, production partners, and transportation providers. Travel coordination is a primary responsibility: booking and managing air, hotel, and ground transportation for internal stakeholders and event participants, handling changes and VIP logistics with speed and discretion. You’ll support registration workflows through Cvent, coordinate event materials and branded assets, track budgets and reconcile expenses, and serve as the communication hub between events, marketing, leadership, and operations.
After each event, you’ll lead the debrief process and drive improvements for the next one.
Magellan Financial operates from a dual‑campus footprint in Topeka, KS, and Phoenix, AZ, supporting a national network of independent financial advisors. The company is founder‑led, selectively partners with a smaller number of firms, and invests heavily in their growth through marketing infrastructure, practice coaching, and premium experiences. Magellan is closely aligned with Foundations Investment Advisors, an SEC‑registered RIA with nearly $10B in assets under management, creating an integrated platform that few competitors can match.
The culture is fast‑paced, collaborative, in‑person, and built around a standard of continuous improvement.
You’re a calm, high‑ownership operator who gets genuine satisfaction from “nothing slipped” and “everyone felt taken care of.” You’re detail‑obsessed but not slow—you’re fast because you’re organized. You spot problems two or three steps ahead—room block risk, shipping timing, speaker travel conflicts—and solve them before they become emergencies. You care deeply about brand experience. Registration emails, signage, vendor execution—it all needs to feel premium and intentional.
You thrive in a high‑performance environment where standards are real, and your work is visible.
If you need to be told what to do next, this isn't your role. If “good enough” is your standard for event execution, Magellan will feel uncomfortably demanding. If you prefer fully remote work or a slow‑paced environment, look elsewhere. This team moves fast, standards are high, and ownership is non‑negotiable.
