Our company has recently introduced its Multiple Sclerosis business in the US with the launch of Aubagio (teriflunomide), a once daily treatment for relapsing forms of MS. A second innovative MS therapy, alemtuzumab, is currently under review with the FDA. The US MS Team is seeking a strategic, motivated and experienced communications professional for the position of Director of US MS BU Communications.
This position will be responsible for planning and managing internal communications within the US MS Team, including all internal pre-launch and launch communications, internal communications to support organizational growth and alignment, and executive communications in support of the US MS Leadership Team. This position will also plan and manage one-on-one communication with top MS Thought Leaders at MS Centers throughout the United States and collaborate as appropriate with MS colleagues on the Corporate Communications Team.
responsibilities
- Develop and execute internal communications plans to ensure complete tactical alignment of functions and across Aubagio and Lemtrada Brands within the US MS Team to maximize performance and reinforce culture.
- Facilitate communication between home office cross-functional teams and field teams (Sales, TLL, Market Access, MS One to One, MSL as appropriate) to ensure alignment and coordination of activity.
- With the addition of Lemtrada, the field teams will include a Lemtrada Sales team, Business Relations Managers, Infusion Nurses, and a potential Co-Promote partner, Bayer.
- Develop and execute a communication plan to connect members of the Global and US Leadership Team with Key Opinion Leaders at MS Centers and Academic Institutions across the country, creating personal touch and ongoing communication with top thought leaders.
- Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues in Sales, Marketing, Thought Leader Liaisons, MS One to One, Payer and Channel Strategy, Business Intelligence and Analytics, and Medical Affairs as appropriate.
- Collaborate as appropriate with MS Corporate Communications colleagues.
- Be a member of the US MS Leadership Team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- A minimum of ten+ years of work experience in one or more of the following: product communications or marketing in the same or related therapeutic area within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry (at a manufacturer or agency)
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups, targeting presentation to the needs of the audience
- Strong issues management capabilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong project management experience, including superior analytical and planning skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently to execute against strategic and tactical plans under tight timelines
- Approximately 30% travel required
