Job Description Summary
The College of Medicine Dean’s Office Communications Coordinator will support communications for the college across a variety of platforms – web, digital communications, internal communications platforms, social media, and other areas. This position reports to the college’s Director of Communications and works collaboratively with internal clients to execute a wide range of communications tactics and platforms. The role requires balancing multiple and changing deadlines, building trust with internal clients, and partnering effectively with colleagues.
A background in managing web content, digital communications, internal communications, and social media platforms is desired. While occasional remote work may be possible, this position is expected to be in‑person/on campus.

- 25% Web Management – Review and update College of Medicine Dean’s Office web pages to maintain timely and accurate information with attention to SEO and design. Ensure consistency and compliance with MUSC brand and web guidelines and optimize content for search engines.
- 20% COM Web Page Oversight – Conduct regular reviews of COM department web pages and those of other entities under the COM, working with areas to ensure pages are current and consistent with MUSC brand and web guidelines.
- 15% Social Media – Oversee the college’s social media presence, create and manage content across channels, create visually appealing content, and attend college events to support the social media presence.
- 15% Visual Communications – Use digital design templates to assist content creation for print and digital channels, guide stakeholders on MUSC brand standards, manage PowerPoint slide content, and post news on the college’s digital sign(s).
- 10% Internal News – Support development of written content (AP style), provide visual content, disseminate, and track the College of Medicine weekly update and other communications vehicles. Attend college events to support these efforts.
- 5% Web Content Development – Work with Dean’s Office teams to develop and implement appropriate content for COM audiences.
- 5% Chatbot Support – Oversee web chatbot responses relevant to the college, ensuring the system is updated with appropriate refinements as needed.
- 5% Other Duties – As assigned.
Job Description
A background in managing web content, digital communications, internal communications, and social media platforms is preferred. Digital design and strong writing skills are highly valued.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree and two years of relevant program experience.
Physical RequirementsAbility to perform job functions in an upright position. Ability to perform job functions in a seated position. Ability to perform job functions while walking/mobile. Ability to work indoors. Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. unassisted. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. Good peripheral vision capabilities. Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
