Aboutthe Job
The Internal Communications & Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing integrated communications strategies and marketing campaigns that engage and inspire Pet Smart customers and store associates in support of the Pet Smart Charities mission. This role leads internal store communications for Pet Smart Charities tied to key campaigns, adoption initiatives, fundraising efforts, and evergreen communications.
Additionally, this position serves as part of the Integrated Marketing team, leading marketing campaigns primarily focused on adoption initiatives and in-store events. Working in close partnership with Pet Smart Store Operations and cross‑functional Pet Smart and Charities Marketing teams, this role supports end‑to‑end campaign planning and execution, helping translate broader marketing strategies into actionable communications and effective store‑level execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesInternal Communications
- Own associate‑facing store communication strategy and execution in support of adoption and fundraising campaigns, delivering high‑quality content that drives awareness, engagement, and participation across stores.
- Partner closely with the Pet Smart Store Operations, Charities Marketing and Programs teams to plan, develop, and deliver communications that effectively cascades from field leadership to store associates.
- Lead communications for policy updates, program changes, and key initiatives, ensuring store associates are informed, prepared, and aligned to execute organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with the partner comms lead to develop aligned and complementary communications for store associates and adoption partners, ensuring consistency across audiences.
Integrated Campaigns & Marketing Support
- Lead end‑to‑end planning and execution of marketing campaigns, particularly adoption‑focused initiatives, securing leadership alignment on strategy, timelines, deliverables, and KPIs.
- Drive cross‑functional alignment and execution across Charities and Pet Smart teams, ensuring campaigns are delivered seamlessly across channels and achieve intended results.
- Own development and delivery of campaign tactics, ensuring on‑time, high‑quality execution, while leading performance tracking, reporting, and optimization.
- Serve as lead for in‑store signage supporting integrated marketing campaigns and evergreen communications, partnering cross‑functionally from briefing and project management through execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in internal communications, marketing, or a related field, with experience developing and executing communication strategies and campaigns.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for a variety of audiences and formats while maintaining brand consistency.
- Experience leading integrated marketing campaigns or cross‑channel initiatives; experience with retail or frontline audiences is a plus.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across teams.
- High level of professionalism, personal integrity, and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
