Job Summary

We are seeking a talented, skilled Communications Specialist to join our Provincial Employee Communications team. The Employee Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, and evaluating internal communications that inform, engage, and support employees across a complex health‑care organization. This role translates complex clinical, technical, and organizational information into clear, accessible, and engaging content across multiple channels.

Highly organized and detail oriented, the Specialist plays a key role in managing communication workflows, tracking deliverables, and analyzing the effectiveness of employee communication tools to ensure messages reach and resonate with diverse staff audiences.

Key Qualifications and Attributes
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated strength in organization, planning, and attention to detail.
  • Experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting on the effectiveness of communication tools or digital platforms.
  • Comfortable working with data, analytics, and performance metrics to inform communication decisions.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively with multidisciplinary health‑care teams.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities Employee Communications and Content Development
  • Develop clear, accurate, and engaging employee‑facing content in a variety of formats, including written, visual, and multimedia materials.
  • Support internal campaigns, organizational initiatives, and leadership communications aligned with corporate priorities.
  • Ensure content reflects organizational values, inclusive language, accessibility principles, and brand standards.
Coordination and Collaboration
  • Manage and contribute to employee communication channels such as intranet platforms, newsletters, digital signage, email, and internal campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical, corporate, and operational partners to gather, verify, and organize content.
Measurement, Analysis and Reporting
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of employee communication tools using quantitative and qualitative metrics (e.g., engagement, reach, usage patterns).
  • Prepare reports and insights that assess communication performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Use data and feedback to refine messaging approaches, channel use, and content formats to improve employee engagement and understanding.
Organization and Project Management
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast‑paced health‑care environment.
  • Maintain organized records of communication projects, timelines, approvals, and deliverables.
Job Qualifications Education

A degree in communications, public relations or related field. Other combinations of qualifications and experience may be considered. Membership and/or affiliation with relevant professional associations may be an asset (e.g., International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)).

Experience
  • Experience in the area of public relations, communications or another related field is required.
  • Experience working with various digital communications platforms is required.
  • Experience in employee or internal communications, ideally in a complex organization such as health care or public sector.
  • Experience working closely with subject‑matter experts, leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to translate complex information into clear, staff‑friendly communications is preferred.
  • Experience writing and editing for multiple internal channels, such as intranets, employee newsletters, executive messages, speech writing, presentations, key message development is preferred.
  • Experience planning and delivering communications projects, often juggling multiple deadlines and priorities is preferred.
