The Department of WVU Online at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an on‑site Project Specialist.
About the OpportunityThe Project Specialist for WVU Online will support market research, competitive analysis, and digital marketing initiatives. This role focuses on identifying market opportunities, assessing competitor strategies, and providing data‑driven insights to enhance marketing efforts. The analyst will play a key role in managing marketing projects, tracking campaign performance, and optimizing digital content for engagement and conversion. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and cross‑functional teams, the ideal candidate will be highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and proactive in identifying trends and opportunities.
They will leverage market data to support strategic decision‑making and contribute to the development of impactful marketing campaigns across digital, social media, and other channels.
Salary Range: $43,505 – $53,000

- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, emerging opportunities, and industry shifts that impact digital marketing strategies.
- Analyze competitor offerings, messaging, and positioning to inform marketing strategies and differentiate programs.
- Track industry benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
- Provide data‑driven recommendations for positioning, audience segmentation, and market expansion strategies.
- Support marketing initiatives by coordinating projects, tracking timelines, and ensuring deliverables are met.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project plans for campaigns, website updates, and digital initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams (content, design, development) and external partners to execute marketing projects efficiently.
- Help streamline marketing workflows by documenting processes, organizing assets, and optimizing project execution.
- Use Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and other data tools to track website traffic, campaign performance, and conversion rates, collaborating with internal and external partners when needed.
- Develop reports and dashboards to monitor key marketing metrics and trends.
- Assist in analyzing paid advertising, email, and social media performance to optimize future campaigns.
- Provide insights to refine digital marketing strategies and improve ROI.
- Support updates to Request for Information (RFI) pages and landing pages, ensuring accurate and conversion‑friendly content.
- Conduct basic UX and usability assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in A/B testing and SEO optimizations to improve engagement and lead generation.
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing and other stakeholders to provide research‑driven insights.
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and strategic recommendations for leadership.
- Stay informed on industry trends, digital marketing best practices, and emerging tools to support continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Integrated Marketing Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree in a closely related field is a plus.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience involving each of the following:
- Experience in managing marketing projects, coordinating deliverables, and working cross‑functionally with internal teams.
